ARE WE STILL NIGERIANS ....Part one

ARE WE STILL NIGERIANS...Part one
I strongly believe in this beautiful country,I have studied its roots and glorified in the wisdom of its founders, the great price paid by unsung heroes, the heavy heart of the calloused hands that laid its foundation bricks trusting in the ideal that ‘sweat shall be sweet to all’.Generations after have testified to this lofty ideal that national integration and unity is our inner strength; outward pride  that has bind us together .We have shown the rest of the world many times that our diversity and tribal differences is an heritage. However we should understand that the battle against our concept of unity is often challenged by an armed struggled, contest of baseless ideas, unpopular polices, hot air and unsequence rhetorics, and corruption in high places. yet,our long term secured peace, tolerance and understanding as one people depends not only on the judicious protection from our military might or increased co-operation with other nations but a simple belief that we are all brothers and sisters, that we are connected to each other. We remain tolerant even when civil unrest; religious and tribal tensions traverse the landscape. But,my greatest fear remains locked around the few Nigerians that have completely lost hope in the greatness and goodness of this nation.I tremble when I hear disastrous outburst like``No future for this country repeatedly”  ‘we must rule this country’’though there is a statistical measure that some are speaking either out of pain which cannot be diagnosed or as a result of the below-the-line state of our economy,or their sudden capsize from grass to grace, which is not wholely their fault, but a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some in government and also our collective failure as citizenry to make hard choices when the need arise to prepare the nation for a better age.Yet! we must contantly re-affirm that the future and destiny of this great nation lies in the hand of the masses not the leaders. The conspiracy theory that Nigeria is not good for Nigerians is a contradiction aimed at shaking our common hopes, and dreams in our love-bounded cultural diversity, remember our unconventional and codified moral still support upright society, The purpose of this rumour-moggers, is not only to win our belief but also to keep their bases agitated and turn the country into warring factions by luring enough responsible youths to beat the other side into submission through the instrumentality of violence so as to retain their blood-coat throne as merchants of war and unwise godfathers. truly they are the true breed of greed produced in a lifetime. Our conviction and peaceful co-existence against their resolved violent nature must convince them that Nigeria is a great nation with good people so I beg to ask``ARE WE STILL BROTHERS,when the image of this great country becomes stained by the over-burdened desire of some which seed corruption?ARE WE STILL BROTHERS, when their purposed challenge and utterances rocked the already sinking rocky-sailing boat of this nation,ARE WE STILL BROTHERS, when looted money becomes a wedge to cut and divide  responsible youths to their sides,  I believe deeply that we cannot solve the challenges of our time unless we resolve together,,yes! unless we perfect our country by understanding that we have different stories, but we hold and share common dreams and we must be prepared to rescue the sinking part from the flat-bottom politicians giving false hopes, prevail over vain policies and  move in the same direction towards a better future for ourselves and our children,it is true we stand at the crossroad so we should hold ourselves responsible for the choice we make at this crucial moments, how do we explain the rationale behind those self acclaimed activists fighting for our rights yet getting richer in the process, friends we have a choice,we can choose to accept a way of life that breeds divisions, conflicts and cynicism or resolve to building blocks of greatness that will make us a unit irrespective of our tribes and religious beliefs.I also believe at that at this defining moment we can come together and say ``Nay``to those corrupt and dirty politicians that are not relevant to this nations development and call to order other countries that easily pass condemning judgment on us as a ``corrupt nation``without a definite scale of measure accessible to us.we can no longer be doubtful or cynical about the possibility and future of this nation, the vision is clear, the road ahead is smooth ,the story is true,Nigeria is a great nation with good people.permit me to close with a few words from Barack Obama’s in his book-The Audacity of Hope ‘‘In this place I think about the founders, who somehow rose above petty ambitions and narrow calculations to imagine a nation unfurling across a continent. who ultimately laid down their lives in the service of perfecting an imperfect union. And all the faceless, nameless men and women, slaves and soldiers and tailors and butchers, constructing
lives for themselves and their children and grandchildren, brick by brick, rail by rail, calloused hand by calloused hand, to fill in the landscape of our collective dreams.
It is that process I wish to part of’’…….posterity will judge all, some will be remember for what they built and others will be remember for what they destroy.
